The character of a fine silk tie

The handle of silk

A tie is a small part of a wardrobe, yet its character can change the impression of everything worn with it. Colour draws the eye; texture rewards a closer look. The weight and movement of the cloth complete the picture.

Our collection uses heavyweight mulberry silk. Its substantial handle lends the tie presence, while the surface gives printed colour a particular depth. Choosing a tie begins with the pattern, but the pleasure of wearing it lies just as much in how it feels.

The work within

The visible silk is only part of the composition. A wool interlining gives our ties body and structure, supporting a full knot while preserving a supple feel. The balance between the outer cloth and the interlining is central to the finished piece.

The final proportion

Consider the tie alongside the shirt collar and the lapel of the jacket. The most pleasing combination allows each element its own space. A patterned silk can bring life to plain tailoring; a quieter colour can draw a more expressive ensemble together.
